Overzealous Hana Cop Should Cut Us Some Slack

To the Hana cop who wrote me a $35 parking ticket for "Facing Oncoming Traffic" ($35) on the short dead end street near the Hana Hotel Cottages. Really? Parking facing the wrong way on a little side street in Hana? I found this to be one of the most insulting, petty infractions in the grand scheme of things. For some reason, this felt like Maui was insulting a citizen just for taking a hike at the beach. Maui doesn't really treat people this way, does it? And when I told my Hana friend about it he said I walked into the biggest parking trap in Hana. People park that way often and the cops see it as an easy way to pick up some revenue. Tacky, just flippin' tacky. Good thing you didn't see the herb pipe exposed on the console. Aw, snap.
