Dunk A Politician

Friday, 8 a.m.-12 noon at Cameron Center

June 09, 2005
[FUNDRAISER] Here's an event the whole family can find entertaining and donate for a good cause. The J. Walter Cameron Center is celebrating its 7th Annual Bazaar with a summer party chock full of goodies for everyone. There's going to be some arts and crafts for sale, a silent action, live entertainment, a jumping castle for the little ones, delicious food—like Clara Sodetani's homemade mango pie—the "Roselani's Great Ice Cream Race" and a dunking booth featuring some local celebrities and politicians.

The ice cream eating contest features teams of three that race to build and then devour an ice cream sundae. Youth teams cost $15; business corporate teams of three adults costs $50. The winners get some prizes, as well as all that yummy ice cream, and proceeds from the "race" benefit Maui Economic Opportunity's Youth Bank programs.

Get down with the music of T&J Classics, Wesley Furumoto, Kawika

Medrano and Buddy Jantoc. Talented dancers of Madelyne Pascua's Dance International Production and the Ola Hou `O Na Wahine, (the women of new life) dance group will also perform.

Got an urge to dunk a Maui politician? Here's your chance! Last year some dunkees included Mayor Alan Arakawa, Councilman Joe Pontanilla,

Councilman Danny Mateo and Councilman Mike Molina. You get to make a donation to your fave Cameron Center organization to dunk someone (gotta uphold some moral standards!). Don't miss this opportunity to have some fun and do some good for the community. Call the Cameron Center at 244-5546 for more info.  [LINDA GAMPERT]
