Festival of Mana

Saturday, 10 p.m. at Malu Ka O'hu in Kula

June 16, 2005
[PARTY] We all know Maui is an incredible place, full of energy. And on the best of days, we do feel a strong sense of aloha because of the kind and considerate gestures of strangers and neighbors. The Mana Fest—mana meaning "divine power" in Hawaiian—celebrates that feeling by exhibiting it through art, music and interaction. Braddish Johnson V and his 'ohana have worked to preserve the beautiful land of Malu Ka O'hu—meaning "point of protection"—and further its development into a diverse horticultural phenomenon. Now that 'ohana also includes Sha-BANG Productions, who will gather artists, musicians and guest speakers to fortify a festival filled with music, film, food and even, science. No drunk driving is allowed! So tents will be set up for those who choose to stay the night followed by a morning yoga session and breakfast for all overnight campers. Space is limited so only 300 guests will be able to attend. But we think that's enough for a good soiree, don't you? And all proceeds from the festival will go towards reforestation and the removal of invasive species. So come with open hearts, open minds, your gifts and talents, and aloha spirit—inspiration is inevitable. For more info or directions, call 250-1469. [GABRIELLE POCCIA]
