This controversial British '60s series followed a man (Patrick McGoohan) who was known only as "Number 6." The show opens with him trapped in a totally bizarre place called The Village where he screams things like "I am not a number!" while guys spy on him with periscopes while riding a seesaw and a big white balloon that wheezes and is named Rover makes sure he stays put. Is he spy trapped in some virtual reality world set up by his interrogators to make him talk? Is he under the spell of mind control drugs? Who knows? But it could fun today, given America's increased fascination with secret prisons and "military tribunals." (AP)
