November 17, 2005 [SPORTS] Real basketball fans know that the NBA has flashly athletes, wicked dunks and lousy, lousy team playing. Remember the Olympics? Good God, did we suck. But college basketball is different—in the NCAA, competitors play as a teams—without celebrity egos or high-priced shoe endorsements. The season begins here with the 22nd annual Maui Invitational, hosted by Chaminade University. This year's bracket includes Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Gonzaga, Kansas, Maryland and Michigan State. Keep in mind that all tickets (except boosters for Chaminade) are already sold out, so if you've got 'em, enjoy 'em. Otherwise, check your ESPN and ESPN2 local listings. [ANTHONY PIGNATARO]
