[LIVE MUSIC] Anytime there's a band with an upright bass and a guy whose last name is "Danger," you know there's gonna be some rockin' and a fair share of rollin'. Citing influences from Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and The Ventures, to The Cramps, The Misfits and Fugazi, The Hell Caminos is a band who knows how tap into the dark caverns of their punk heart and rockabilly soul. And they're from Honolulu! Michael Camino, Nick Danger and Handsome Jack have only been together for two years and yet they've already opened for the likes of '80s punk veterans TSOL, The Briefs and The Cro-Mags. And they've inspired one fan at a recent show on Oahu to compare their high-energy performance to Six String Samurai, a 1999 indie flick centered around a postapocalyptic kung fu rock 'n roll hero on a journey to Vegas, where he is to succeed Elvis as the King. Somebody hand me my pomade and jean cuffs—I'm a gonna hop in my '69 Chevy pickup and find me a new pompadoured boyfriend! (With Khrinj and White Rose at Casanova. $10).
