Get people to think of your big land development company as environmentally friendly and you'll get your projects faster and easier. It's just public relations, people, but it works. A&B and Dowling Co. have long "green-washed" their massive homebuilding projects, and two key moves this week show they haven't lost their style. The new 2006 state Department of Land and Natural Resources calendar is out, and it's hardly surprising that the old Alexander and Baldwin Foundation is one of its biggest sponsors. And this week we also learned that developer Everett Dowling—who's going to build million-dollar condos right on the beautiful Makena shore—has without a trace of irony signed on to sponsor the upcoming Maui Coastal Land Trust's "Buy Back the Beach" luau.
