The guy who, in the early 1970's, formed the idealistic Zulu Nation in the Bronx, headed DJ battles and b-boy/girl competitions, organized the collective that included graffiti artists and birthed the powerful ideology that hip-hop was a pro-active, creative and peaceful force of the people? The dude who produced the seminal electrofunk hit, "Planet Rock," made popular the use of mixed-genre sampling that would smoothly incorporate dance music with a Martin Luther King, Jr. speech or AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long," and collaborated with James Brown, Boy George and the Sex Pistols' John Lydon, further establishing the unifying force that music truly, beautifully is? The man practically invented hip-hop. He's coming here? No shit. Tickets: $20 in advance.
