[SPORTS/BEACH CLEANUP] Call it a feel-good weekend. But what we've got going on here is good ol' fashioned community spirit, sound environmental action, healthy exercise, competition and youth support. Oh, and adult-sized partying. The Maui Kokua Classic festivities begin on Saturday, with a Hawaiian blessing at 7:30 a.m. and the beach cleanup following, from Ho'okipa Beach Park to Paia Bay, in conjunction with the Youth Center. Refreshments provided by Jamba Juice, and lunch courtesy of Pizza Paia. Then let the games begin! The skippers meeting for Bull's Eye Expression Sessions starts at 1 p.m., then it's on to Pro Men's, Women's and Legend's sessions, with the big Red Bull Party at Unisan Sushi Bar and Grill in Wailuku at 8 p.m. Day two is for keiki, with contenders meeting at 10 a.m. and competition starting at 1:30 p.m. The day ends with a big BBQ and prizes but for the whole lowdown about Maui Kokua Classic or future events, visit www.tropicalenergy.com.
