This Week's Eh Brah!

May 25, 2006 Thanks a lot, Mr. Auto Mechanic. I brought my fairly new (2001) car a few weeks ago. There was a small rattling sound coming from the undercarriage. What should have been an hour-long diagnostic test turned into a five-hour wait. Then your service manager came out and estimated it would cost me $1,000 to repair. Yeah, I got upset—who wouldn't? So I left and got a second opinion from a friend of mine who also works as a mechanic. Turns out the problem was simply a matter of a loose bolt. After waiting 30 minutes and spending no money, my car was back to normal. Had I never gotten a second opinion you would have milked me of a grand for a loose bolt. But hey, it's your life—if you want to make a living by ripping off honest people, that's your choice. Just like it's my choice to tell everyone I know to make sure they stay far away from you.
