Sacred Feminine
Sunday, 7:30 p.m. at Cafe Marc Aurel, Wailuku
|
June 08, 2006 [ART] The Bhagavad Gita says, "Among the feminine nouns I am fame, prosperity, speech, memory, intellect, resolve and forgiveness." And Rainer Maria Rilke said, "The deepest experience of the creator is feminine, for it is experience of receiving and bearing." True that. Anyway, the Sacred Feminine: Madonna, Whore, Daughter, Wife, Sister, Lover is Cafe Marc Aurel's latest group exhibit, headed by esteemed Wailuku artist Adrianne Martinez, and featuring the works of 15 Maui and off-island artists. There will be no table service or food at this art opening reception/wine party. But expect plenty of intellectual bohemian sexiness and inebriation. I mean, inspiration. No cover.
