June 15, 2006 [CULTURAL/HOLIDAY] Everybody loves a parade. So lucky for you, the colorful floral floats, pa'u riders and community groups of 2006 Na Kamehameha Commemorative Pa'u Parade will begin their procession at 9:45 a.m. down Front St. from Kenui St. to Kamehameha Iki Park in celebration of Kamehameha, the warrior-king who unified the Hawaiian Islands and stood in defense of traditional Hawaiian values. The Ho'olaulea will follow in Banyan Tree Park, and will include a presentation of the Royal Court, food booths, live entertainment, and a gathering of local artisans depicting this year's theme—"mo'olelo aloha" or "express love in everything"—as well as Hawaiian landscapes, warrior paintings/ sketches, Kamehameha tributes, Hawaiian sculptures and more.
