[DJ FEST.] I have some good news and some bad news. I'll get the bad out of the way first. Summer is almost over (sigh). Which brings me to the good news (hooray!). Thanks to SunnLounge and Love-n-Light productions, your coolest summer vacation story doesn't have to be how you made out to Hoobastank's "The Reason" last week at the MACC. This Saturday, the local promoters are hosting an all-day, free DJ showcase at the old Kalama Park pavilion. At least seven DJs (from everywhere from Maui to Oregon to the Midwest) will be waxing poetic on a selection of reggae/dub, tech house funk, and break beats for your aural pleasure. Featured spinners include (in order of appearance) Alf, Tobin, Tim Dawg, Heavy Kev, Daniel J, Sal, and Max. Word around the campfire is that there may also be appearances by local bands and fire dancers. If for no other reason, come down to get the Hoobastank out of your head. [COREY NIELSEN]
