The Zipper, Malasadas and American Idols

Thursday-Sunday (Sept. 28-Oct. 1) at War Memorial, Wailuku

September 28, 2006
[MAUI COUNTY FAIR] Yeah, you know what the County Fair is all about. But aside from the Super Sizzler, Wave Swinger and Zipper rides, the live heifers, goats and piglets, the bonsai and orchid exhibits, the arts & crafts and face painting, the baby, chili and bento contests, the games, and the lau lau, malasadas and chow fun—not to mention the parade!—there's also a Joy Zone-worth of live entertainment. Opening night features the "Women of American Idol": Camille Velasco at 7:45, Jasmine Trias at 8:30, and Paula Fuga at 9. Nuff Sedd ends it at 9:45 p.m. Friday night is a "Comedy Jam" with Japanese karaoke at 5, Kaleo Pilanca at 7:15, Paul Ogata at 8:15, Mixjah at 9:15, and Ekolu at 10:30 p.m. Saturday is "OC16's Ohana Day" and includes an all-day schedule of comedy, contests and music by Conscious Healing, Ooklah the Moc, and the OC16 Road Show. Sunday's "Hawaiian Sunset" lineup features another mix of everything, from a puppet show at 10 a.m. to Kalaeloa at 10 p.m., and Ho'opili, Na Leo, Ho'okena, Na Palapai and many others in between. The Fair is open Thu, 5-11 p.m.; Fri, 5 p.m.-midnight; Sat, 10 a.m.-midnight; and Sun, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. General admission: $4 adults, $2 keiki (5-10), FREE for keiki 4 and under.
