September 28, 2006 [CANDIDATES FORUM] The Primary Election may be over, but the politics are just getting started. We've got a General Election on Nov. 7—barely a month away!—and that means there's lots of campaigning left to do. And I don't mean that ridiculous sign-waving thing candidates do at major intersections—I'm talking a real issue-debating gabfest where those who want to hold the public trust tell voters where they think Maui's going to get its water in 10 years, how we can bring affordable housing to those who need it, where we should build new schools and hospitals and how the hell we're going to deal with all the traffic the island's massive land development is causing. On Oct. 7, the Kula Community Association is sponsoring a big forum for all the candidates. There are a lot of them out there so the event should last a while, but there will be free refreshments. For more information call 878-1874 or 878-1342. [ANTHONY PIGNATARO]
