Nat'l Day of Resistance
Thursday (Oct. 5), 10 a.m. at Maui Community College

September 28, 2006 [PEACE MARCH] The national organization World Can't Wait—which has already protested the war in Iraq at the United Nations—has declared Oct. 5 to be a National Day of Resistance. That means you get to take to the streets and tell the island that you're sick and tired of our useless, bloody war in Iraq that gets worse every day we stay. The march on Maui, which is sponsored jointly by World Can't Wait's local chapter and Maui Peace Action, will march (peaceably, I'm told) from MCC, along Ka`ahumanu Ave., to the state office building in Wailuku, where a rally will take place at Honoli`i Park. The march should include marching bands, community leaders, tons of signs and, hopefully, a whole lot of people. The march begins at 10 a.m., but you should be at the school by 9:45 a.m. [ANTHONY PIGNATARO]
