[FUNDRAISER] I grew up on a skateboard. This was before cities across the nation banned it on their streets so I'd go tear up the different spots with some friends. In hindsight we literally did tear them up. No wonder the powers that be didn't want us on their property. So what's a young skater supposed to do? Count on the local skate shop, that's what. Lahaina Skate Company is having a funds and awareness raising event to build a skate park where the old park used to be, which is behind the Lahaina Aquatic Center. The event will be in the Ali`i Room at the Royal Lahaina Resort. For entertainment they're going to show a few videos at 7:30 p.m., including the premiere of Lahaina Skate Co.'s new video. The bands Sounds of Jah and Micah Wolf will be playing after the videos. Along with one raffle ticket and appetizers you can also participate in the silent auction and buy even more raffle tickets. The park has been years in waiting for the skaters, so bid high and often for the auction. Doors open at 6 p.m. and tickets are $25 in advance (Lahaina Skate Co.) or $30 at the door.
