A Musician's Musician

Sunday (Nov. 19), 7:30 p.m. at McCoy Studio Theater

November 16, 2006
[FOLK/ROCK] Richard Thompson is a "musician's musician." Here's why: Thompson started his career in 1967. As a teenager he was one of the founding members of the group Fairport Convention. The album Liege and Lief was recorded in 1969 by the group and is still regarded as the most influential folk records of all-time, according to the British public. The BBC awarded Thompson this year with their lifetime achievement award. Back in America in 2003, Rolling Stone gave Thompson the distinction of being the 19th (out of 100) guitarists of all time. Thompson has a song list that dates from present day to the 11th century, along with over 40 albums to his name. This would equate to an entire arsenal of songs that rival a musicologist's entire library.

Tickets are $30 in advance of $35 the day of the show. Call 242-SHOW for info or to purchase. [KEITH BENEDICT]
