December 07, 2006 [REGGAE] "Bless up massive!" is the first thing you read on Soul Medic's website. It goes on to say, "Blazing tunes of higher inspariation and Rastafari conciousness…" It caused me to wonder, were they so stoned in prophetic bliss that they deliberately misspelled, or did they just not smell their spell checker melting down? Beyond that, the sound of Soul Medic—who is a singer, producer, songwriter and DJ—utilizes elements of roots music, lovers' rock, rub a dub, and hip-hop. He's recently released an album called Western Cleansing, his second with the Jah Kebra label, and is currently finishing his next album, which will include the single "Ganja Youth." This weekend's show also includes Jahworks the Revolutionary with Ras Gabriel and Forward Band, and Pure Fire. Ticket price TBA, call Life's a Beach at 891-8010 for more info. [KEITH BENEDICT]
