A Big Didgeri-To-Do
Thursday (Mar. 8), 7:30 p.m. at the Castle Theater
|
March 01, 2007 [DANCE/CULTURAL] Descendance, an aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Dance Theater, formed back in 1993 in Australia as a troupe of didgeridoo players, dancers, singers, storytellers, elders, painters, musicians, choreographers and models. Descendance was born from the Ngaru Aboriginal dance Company—Sydney's first independent, traditional indigenous troupe. There is no question that this magnificent group kicks some serious ass. In 1994 they won, out of a field of 350 groups, the World Culture Open in Seoul. Check it out for an amazing smorgasbord of color, sound, dance and roots. Tickets: $30, $20, $10. For info, call 242-SHOW. [LILIANA BEGLEY]
