[REPUBLICAN PARTY CONVENTION] If there's a political party that likes to party, it's the Republican Party. And of all the 50 state parties Hawai`i's Republican Party parties the hardest. I mean, look around: they've got an ironclad, hardened steel LOCK on the offices of Governor and Lt. Governor. For all intents and purposes, the Democrats didn't even show up to run against Linda Lingle and James "Duke" Aiona. They just walked in and walloped the Democrats like they own the place, which they do. Of course, the Democrats dominate both the state House of Representatives and the Senate with dictatorial majorities, but really, all those guys do is write the laws. The real fun is in the Governor's Mansion! That's why the local Maui County Republican Party Convention is going to be such a blast. They're going to elect party officers! And special guest star Aiona will be on hand to speak! And possibly answer questions! Just keep in mind that these are Republicans, so the buffet lunch costs $20. For more info, call 870-1994.
