Oooh! After a thrilling correspondence with the police about a permanent appointment of one of their members to the S.C., they're throwing out a heart stopper for anyone who can think this early in the morning: "Maui County Council Members Salaries." And no, that doesn't include "campaign contributions"—that would be wrong.

Somebody's feathers are being soothed with a check on the "new Civil Rights Compliance Officer expansion position." Oh, and the club's finally gonna be finalizing their 2007 goals… which I think we're halfway through or did I just fall out of the future?

Apparently the county will even hold religious institutions to the letter of the law. Ms. Mary Omwaker of Unity Church requested a Special Use Permit to have an office and hold "small gatherings," but she'll have to wait a month because this "item will be rescheduled… due to improper notice by the applicant." For shame! And Maui Land & Pine is "requesting an Environmental Assessment Determination on [their report] in support of the Special Management Area Use Permit for the Kapalua Coastal Trail." A "Findings of No Significant Impact (FONSI)" is what the company wants but then again, who would like their very own Fonzie?
