Maui County

The Agenda

June 07, 2007

Salary Commission

Fri., June 8, 8:30 a.m.

Oooh! After a thrilling correspondence with the police about a permanent appointment of one of their members to the S.C., they're throwing out a heart stopper for anyone who can think this early in the morning: "Maui County Council Members Salaries." And no, that doesn't include "campaign contributions"—that would be wrong.

Affirmative Action Advisory Council

Fri., June 8, 2 p.m.

Somebody's feathers are being soothed with a check on the "new Civil Rights Compliance Officer expansion position." Oh, and the club's finally gonna be finalizing their 2007 goals… which I think we're halfway through or did I just fall out of the future?

Planning Commission

Tue., June 12, 9 a.m.

Apparently the county will even hold religious institutions to the letter of the law. Ms. Mary Omwaker of Unity Church requested a Special Use Permit to have an office and hold "small gatherings," but she'll have to wait a month because this "item will be rescheduled… due to improper notice by the applicant." For shame! And Maui Land & Pine is "requesting an Environmental Assessment Determination on [their report] in support of the Special Management Area Use Permit for the Kapalua Coastal Trail." A "Findings of No Significant Impact (FONSI)" is what the company wants but then again, who would like their very own Fonzie?

Planning Conference Room, Kalana Pakui Building, 250 S. High Street, Wailuku

Liquor Control Commission

Wed., June 13, 9 a.m.

Goodbye E & O Trading Company, we'll miss your liquor license. Want to find out what a condotel is? Or why the cops are interested in Kihei Kalama Villages? Then stay to the end and find out!

Conference Room 107, Trask Building, 2145 Kaohu St., Wailuku

Police Commission

Wed., June 13, 3 p.m.

"Request for Legal Representation by Officer Gregg Karonis in Paul Campos vs. Gregg Karonis, et al.," which is really important—especially to people who know Paul and Gregg. Near the end the MPC will talk about what they'll say to Mayor Charmaine Tavares regarding EMCP's rather low wages.
