The Agenda

Grants Review Committee

June 21, 2007
Fri., June 22, 8:30 a.m.

Before the public gets their say the panel will decide which of their own gets to chair the hearing. Also, they'll talk about a lease for West Maui Breakers.

Hospice Maui, 400 Mahalani St., Wailuku

Maui Redevelopment Agency

Mon., June 25, 1 p.m.

I need to apologize to anyone who went or attempted to attend the meeting scheduled on the 12th. It was rescheduled. Unfortunately I'm not as important as I like to think and wasn't informed ahead of time. Subsequently, neither were you lovely readers. Anyway, the newest agenda was unavailable by press time.

1980 Main St., Wailuku

Maui Planning Commission

Tues., June 26, 9 a.m.

Maui Palms Hotel is being demolished. Since "a small portion of which falls within the shoreline setback area," when they rebuild a newer, more expensive hotel they will have to give the nearby beach back to the public! Now all the commission needs to do is give out a FONSI (Finding Of No Significant Impact). Oh, and Maui Land & Pineapple Company's continuing request for their own FONSI, of which a "public hearing [was] conducted on April 16, 2007" and "Last deferred at the May 22, 2007 meeting," appears under "unfinished business." Then Bill Frampton of Papa'anui asks for a Special Management Area Use Permit for a seven-lot Residential Subdivision in Makena. Don't worry—even though the commission has already heard "closed public testimony" on the last two items, you can still get up at the beginning of the meeting and speak your peace if you missed the earlier opportunities. "Testify!" As Rage Against the Machine used to shout, before audio-enslavement became a fad.

Planning Conference Room, Kalana Pakui Building, 250 S. High Street, Wailuku
