[INDIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC] No, it's not a new Upcountry law firm. You might remember Ty Burhoe's (pictured) melodious tabla-playing from last winter's Krishna Das kirtans—aside from Das, Burhoe collaborates with artists of all genres, like Ustad Zakir Hussain, Art Lande, Curandero, Bela Fleck and Kitaro. And Roshan Jamal Bhartiya comes from a long line of sitar maestros—his father having been a student of Pandit Ravi Shankar—and has been touring and performing for the last 40 years. Together they play Indian classical music, one of the most complex and complete musical systems ever developed. I won't get into the technicalities of it here, but suffice it to say, that combination of monophonic, just intonation, 12-semitone octaves, melodic ragas and rhythmic talas, is pure bliss to the ears.
