[ECO/EDUCATION] I once did a biology project on sharks. The weekend before it was due, I went to Makena, armed with fresh, dead fish. If I didn't have the benefit of having actually used the weeks of research we were granted, I was at least going to see a shark. So there I was, just sort of hanging out in the water. Suddenly, a dark shape sped toward me. Doom was about to happen and no one had cued the ominous music. Sure, it turned out to be a turtle, but it could've been a shark. I felt really stupid, but not as stupid as I do right now: if it had been shark, I could have won Shark Week's photo contest. Now, I'm going to have to do it all over again. The Maui Ocean Center hosts Shark Week, July 22-28. Shark Week activities are included with aquarium admission, except for the "Sensational Sharks' Sleepover" on July 27 and the Tiger Shark upgrade package.
