Tango Fandango

Friday (Aug. 3), 7:30 p.m. at Castle Theater, Maui Arts and Cultural Center

August 02, 2007
[DANCING] The Third International TangoFest, Maui (Aug. 1-5) comes to a gushing climax with Tango Amor III: Love of Tango 3. I've got this theory about fighters and dancers: they're basically the same people. It's all about the release of a dynamic and powerful energy.  It's this energy that is obviously present in Tango Amor, and also serves as a reminder that passion is not just for made-for-TV movies. For those thinking that tango is just for pansies, there's a reason you're receiving less action than you'd like… When's the last time your manly ability to open a beer bottle with your forearm/belly/eye socket aroused your partner into a state of wanton abandon? I thought so. Tango Amor III showcases Argentine Tango, in all its glorious ecstasy. Remember, it takes two to tango, so bring a date. Unless you're into polyamory, then the more the merrier. Tickets: $20. For info about Tango Amor III visit www.mauiarts.org. For more info about TangoFest, Maui visit www.tangofestmaui.com. 242-7469. [YNEZ TONGSON]
