September 13, 2007 [COMEDY] Coconut Cabaret is launching the new fall season of avant garde shows with a double dose of gender-bending comedy in "The Asian Double Diva Show." First up is Oahu native turned LA local Ariana. The stylish, self-proclaimed "Dominatrix of Designer Wear" pulls hilarious, risque material from her experience as a transgender in a conservative Asian family and is popular on the circuit for appearing in comedy shows hosted by Margaret Cho. Next up is Roy Cruise, who played two dueling "sistas" fighting over the same "mista" in his short film Keisha vs. Geisha, and whose brilliant ethnic comedy act was recently shown on the Logo Channel's Wisecracks. He's funny, gay and has great hair. We can thank Manhattan Mama, a.k.a. comedian Nora Burns, for bringing these two funny acts, and a whole season of different, off-beat, adult-oriented comedy to Maui. Tickets: $20. Maui Arts and Cultural Center, 242-7469. [JESSICA ARMSTRONG]
