[MUSIC] I feel it's my duty to offer this warning to anyone and everyone who doesn't like to dance, move, toe-tap, shake booty or otherwise enjoy great music: Do not go anywhere near Afro-Brazilian roots group SambaDa. Their music is infectious and playful, their energy is high and it's damn near impossible not to get your groove on when you're listening to their samba, funk, capoeira and reggae fusion songs. They're here (first Hawaiian tour ever) to celebrate Brazilian Independence Day, after getting wild and crazy performing at carnivals up and down the California coast. Band leader and Brazilian native Papiba Godinho brings knowledge of Afro-Brazilian music while vocalist and master dancer Dandha Da Hora honors her Salvador Bahia culture with her exuberant moves. The entire band comes together to create music with a universal appeal. You could say SambaDa musically unites the Americas, blending the percussion styles of Central and South America with funk and reggae sounds. Don't say I didn't warn you–these shows are bound to be a hip swaying, rump shaking good time. $15 in advance, $20 at the door. www.sambada.com for more info. [JA]
