Chillin' for the Keiki

Saturday (Sept 29), 5:30-10 p.m., Paia Beach Park

September 27, 2007
[FOOD/FUNDRAISER] Imagine this: you've got your toes in the sand under a sky full of twinkling stars at Paia Beach Park. Your right hand grasps a cold beer while your left cradles your third plate of delicious food, and you're surrounded by friends, laughing and enjoying the music of the Hula Honeys and Voodoo Suns. You've just finished placing your bid on several fabulous items at the massive silent auction, and you're feeling very good about yourself because your dollars are supporting one of Maui's important organizations. No, it's not a dream: it's the Third Annual Taste of the North Shore, where north Maui's finest restaurants, retailers and entertainment team up to support the Paia Youth and Cultural Center and it's endeavor to provide a safe environment with lots of educational and recreational opportunities for Maui's youth. Last year's event sold out, raising over $25,000 for the center's many projects, such as the Stone Wave skate park, commercial free youth radio station KOPO-LP 89.5 and the Paia Bay Cafe. This year's adults-only party promises to be just as awesome, with great food (taste all you want with the price of admission,) a cash bar for beer and wine, live entertainment, the beach, the moon and stars, and an excellent cause. Tickets: $50. (21 and up.) In advance at Mana Foods and Anthony's Coffee, Paia. 579-8354. [JA]
