[MUSICAL/COMEDY] I need to disclose something here. I love Christmas and angels—especially fat angels. It's even better if these fat angels have little wings. Much to my delight, A Maui Christmas to You presented by Maui OnStage and Kealaokala Records is bringing both to the Iao Theater for one night only in a performance about a 300-plus pound angel sent to help a little girl find the true meaning of Christmas, which I'm pretty sure has a lot to do with rum cake and candy-canes, but I may be wrong. An all-star cast including Uncle Richard Ho`opi`i, Uluwehi Guerrero, Alaka`i Paleka, Kamakakehau Fernandez, Lahela Rapozo and The Future will grace the stage, plus the first 200 children get goodie bags. [FILM/CD RELEASE] Support a great cause and groove to some hip-hop beats and the Maui premiere of a film dedicated to a fallen Hawai`i warrior-artist. Make My Day Hawai`i is a non-profit foundation dedicated to saving music and arts in our schools. Dedicated and formed in the memory of Eric MacCammond, the film highlights Eric's life and emphasizes the needs of school's on Maui. Following the movie is a performance by the hip-hop artist Unexpected for his upcoming album King Against the Mirror. The movie starts at 7 p.m. and Unexpected's performance will follow. [EVENT] Sometimes it's hard to feel festive and jolly in the sweltering Hawaiian sun. Good thing we have Upcountry Maui to turn to when needing Christmas cheer. Makawao is celebrating Christmas early this year, and man is it a celebration! I'll put it this way: Santa on a horse drawn carriage, carolers in period costumes, bagpipes, pony rides, wreath making and ukuleles. That's not even half of the fun Christmassy stuff that will be going on so don't be a Grinch and head Upcountry for an authentic holiday extravaganza.
The Secret's Out

[CONCERT] "This album is from my heart," says Ziggy Marley regarding his latest release, Love is My Religion. His second solo album after leaving the Melody Makers, Love is My Religion has already won a Grammy for best reggae album, and now you'll have a chance to get your religion live, and in person at the MACC. Gates open at 6 p.m., with the show starting at 7 p.m., but you better make some arrangements to get there extra early if you want to be front and center to a man that carries Bob's blood in his veins. Movie Buffs Rejoice!

[FILM] Forget Christmas trees and Santa Clause and embrace the holiday season because it brings the sixth annual Maui Film Festival Firstlight screening of the smartest, funniest, most dramatic and most Academy Award-worthy films of the year to our little island. This week big name stars Viggo Mortensen and Naomi Watts will be the first to light up the screen in David Cronenberg's Eastern Promises, a thriller about the criminal underbelly of society in Eastern Europe. Then the early life of the powerful and passionate Genghis Kahn and the events that led him to greatness will be brought to life in Mongol. The movie marathon continues all month.
