Sex Toys 101–A playfully uninhibited guide

By Rachel Venning and Claire Cavanah

[BOOK] This attractive tome comes to us from the founders of Toys in Babeland–a fun loving, feminist shop dedicated to selling only quality sex toys. It does a great job of providing clear, useful information on how to use different toys while maintaining a flashy sense of fun. It's filled with photos of sex toys that have been made to look like art. One page show a mosaic of glass and steel dildos, crops, whips and paddles and colorful and puffy vagina pillows. Chapters include stuff about vibrators, dildos, anal toys, lube, sexual anatomy and bondage and domination. There's something for everyone here, and the hip, cool presentation that the information is laid out in makes learning about it easy on the eyes.

101 Nights of

Grrreat Sex

By Laura Corn

[BOOK] This book has been around for over a decade. What makes it so popular is that it includes 101 different sexual adventures that are written either for "His" or "Her" eyes only. Once a week a couple should flip through the book (individually) and choose an adventure. Now most people will find some of the adventures rather cheesy ("The Tender Outlaw" involves creating a wanted poster and outfitting yourself with a toy gun, holster and mask). But the book does offer some great ideas. I recommend flipping through the book, find a few scenarios you find appealing, tear them out (perforated pages), roll and close with tape (so that they can be chosen at random) and stick them in the cookie jar. Have your lover do the same. This way you both know that you'll be into whatever adventure comes your way.

The Mammoth Book of Best New Erotica

Edited by Maxim Jakubowski

[BOOK] Every year Maxim Jakubowski reads thousands of published erotica stories and picks the best of the best for his anthology. I'm not sure how many he's put out–six or seven?–but they're all good. Reading a "best of" anthology is important when it comes to erotica because there are so many sex-story sites out there that a boatload of crap awaits the uninitiated. And unlike porn—where you can usually see right away if something appeals to you—it takes reading at least a paragraph or two before you can figure out if a story's going to turn you on. In Volume Six, check out "Everything You Want" by C.D. Formetta, "Five Girls" by Riain Grey, "Neon Nights" by Susan DiPlacido and one of my personal favorites, "Jenny and the Big Bad Department Store" by Tara Alton. MTW
