COLLEEN'S

They've got breakfast burritos (scrambled eggs, potatoes, cheddar cheese, green chiles, salsa and sour cream) and egg-stuffed croissant sandwiches, but try this one for size: the Hangover Cure, which is a skillet full of roasted potatoes, a couple eggs, jack and cheddar cheeses, black forest ham, onions, green chiles, salsa and sour cream for $8.75. You can get it without the eggs for $6.75, but why bother? Haiku Cannery, 810 Haiku Rd., 575-9211. Open 6 a.m.-9:30 p.m. $

WATERFRONT DELI

This little counter in the Whaler's General Store sells great sandwiches in the afternoon, but in the morning they've got a tasty little breakfast special. For just $4, you get a heaping platter of scrambled eggs, tater tots and your choice of bacon, sausage links or Portuguese sausage. It's hard to say no that early in the morning. Shops at Wailea, 3750 Wailea Alanui St., 891-2039. Open 7 a.m.-8 p.m. $

CHARLEY'S SALOON

Three words: Mahimahi Eggs Benedict. Plus, they're open again. 142 Hana Hwy., Paia, 579-9453 Open 7 a.m.-10 p.m. $

MAUI TACOS

Lots of places sell breakfast burritos, but few sell them as consistently good as Maui Tacos. You can get them with rice or potatoes and chorizo or no chorizo. My suggestion: get them with as much as you can stomach. That way, you won't have to eat for the rest of the day, saving you tons of money and time that could be better spent elsewhere on the island. Located island-wide. $

KIHEI CAFFE

Flat-out, one of the best breakfast spots on the island. Better get there early (they open at five for a reason) or prepare yourself to wait a while for a table. But that's okay, too, because there's plenty of people-watching opportunities and they serve breakfast until two. 1945 S. Kihei Rd., 879-2230. Open 5 a.m.-2 p.m. $
