Java Jazz/Soup Nutz
You can only get eggs benedict here on Sundays, but it's worth making a special occasion out of this breakfast spot because, like everything on the menu, the serving is huge and satisfying. The hollandaise sauce has a little bit of savory flavor that makes it unique and interesting and you get hash browns and toast along with it. CJ's Deli and Diner
If you don't mind waiting in line for a bit and eating your breakfast off paper plates, CJ's benny is great because it comes on big, fluffy English muffins with a really rich hollandaise sauce. Kahana Sands Restaurant
Nothing bugs me more at breakfast time than overcooked eggs and even some of the best restaurants around are guilty of bringing me stiff, rubbery, yolk-less ones. But not the Sands, where no matter how many times I test the chefs I always get perfectly runny, over-easy eggs on my benny. Lately I've been getting the eggs Florentine here, which is the same thing minus the ham with cooked spinach and tomato, then digging in to a big side of crispy bacon. 4299 Lower Honoapiilani Hwy., Kahana, 669-5000, Open daily 7:30 a.m.-9 p.m., $
Moose McGillycuddy's
The eggs benedict at Moose's is sufficiently good, with a creamy sauce that's just high enough on the grease factor to help a girl recover from a night of dollar drinks at the very same bar. The muffins are toasty and the side of country-style potatoes is plentiful, but the best thing about breakfast here is that it's cheap. Probably the cheapest I've had out here in Lahaina, and I'm a big fan of going out to breakfast. 844 Front St., Lahaina, 667-7758, Open daily 7:30 a.m.-1:30 a.m., $
Gazebo
I've never had the eggs benedict here, at least not the traditional kind. What I always order at this tiny, perfect little breakfast spot is called country benedict and it comes with two thick, delicious patties of sweet breakfast sausage atop a couple of crispy muffins and beneath two eggs that are smothered in a slightly lemony hollandaise.
