Blogs serve many purposes both frivolous and profound. One of the more noble roles they can play is as a watchdog of the watchdogs, monitoring media outlets and working to keep them honest. Today we tip our cap to Poinography!, a little patch of cyber turf maintained by Doug White that holds various Hawaii information gatekeepers' feet to the fire (including, on occasion, our humble publication) in an entirely civil and generally thoughtful way—a combination that's rarer than it should be. In other markets, what White's doing would be less remarkable, but the media in Hawaii don't seem to be under a whole lot of scrutiny. In this business, scrutiny's good. Blog on, Doug. -JS

another great blog about Maui Media is at:

    mauimediapolice.blogspot.com

They don't get into politics, elections, Oahu stuff etc. Just articles that police the Maui Media and it's participants.
