Best of Maui 2009

July 09, 2009
The ocean and its many wonders are an indelible part of the Valley Isle; they help define the island and enhance its unique appeal. The same could be said for the winners of this year’s Best of Maui. From sandwiches to snorkeling spots, pupus to politicians, bartenders to beaches, these are the people, places and things that make living here—on land and in the water—truly special.

Once again, you voted in record numbers, and we present your choices—augmented by a few purely subjective staff picks—on the following pages. Inside you’ll find a lot of old favorites, some surprises and maybe a few things you’ve yet to experience. (And remember: if you agree with the winners, it’s all us; if you hate them, well, you’re the ones who voted.)

So pull yourself away from those warm waves for a minute (we know, it’s a lot to ask) and dive in…
