Benefit: Ka Ipu Kukui
|
July 16, 2009 Drink for the cause Tuesday (Jul. 21), 7-10pm, South Shore Tiki Lounge, Kihei Have you ever suggested heading to the triangle on a given night only to hear the standard refrain ("No good can come from going to the triangle. No good!ó) issue forth from the mouths of your friends? Well, contrary to the common belief that all the triangle has in store are black eyes, stolen wallets, poorly advised partnerings and shouting matches over which Stones albums constitute one's top five, something beneficial is making its way to the fabled South Maui bar cluster. On Tuesday night partial proceeds from food and drink items purchased at Tiki Lounge will go to Ka Ipu Kukui, an organization that focuses on Maui's future. It features a program that trains Maui Nui residents for leadership roles in matters like environment, culture, tourism and government. Trainees are selected by nomination. Maui County provides partial funding for the program, but not enough to cover it all. Thus, ordering a mai-tai this evening means helping ensure that sound decisions Ð unlike those that typically happen in the triangle Ð are made in the future.
