Let it Sea
Saturday (April 3), 9am-2pm, Cary & Eddie's Hideaway, Kahului, free

If it seems like there aren't any good fish in the sea, maybe you aren't using the right bait—or are fishing in the wrong pond. Let me help you out: This weekend, stop by the 2nd annual More Fish in the Sea Ocean Awareness Fair to meet lots of environmentally conscious peeps, check out their hands-on activities and educational booths and get invites to beach cleanups, reef surveys and the like. "Last year, more than 2,000 people attended our event at MCC. We had a great time and many people really got how connected the land and sea are—especially on islands," says Hannah Bernard, one of the event coordinators and president of the Hawaii Wildlife Fund. "This year, we hope to highlight those community groups and organizations that are helping to recover the health of our ocean by the work they do on land and near shore." Once you find a fish you like, head indoors to the Cary & Eddies Banquet room to turn out the lights and tune into the More Fish in the Sea Film Festival, starting at 2pm and organized by Jazz Alley TV. Oren Masserman of Barefoot Minded, along with other musicians, will be out on the lawn livening up the festival with tunes, including Masserman's new release, aptly titled "Ocean." 280-8124 or e-mail wild@aloha.net; Sierra Brown, MauiTime
