April 28, 2010 | 01:43 PM To be honest, classical music isn't something I indulge in often. After all, a workout is best accompanied by Kylie Minogue and my Buick likes to rev up during rush hour traffic to Kid Cudi. However, today, in honor of the Maui Classical Music Festival, I re-tuned my Pandora station to fit in some Bach and Beethoven between the regulars. Turns out that classical music is just as entertaining as the rest of my playlist; I certainly found myself less hasty to use the "skip" option than I usually am. To get those neuron transmitters firing, take it one step further and sprawl out with a notepad and pencil. Turn on the classical tunes, and sketch whatever images the music brings to mind. This is a good plan for those who find regular meditation to be more like a kindergarten nose-in-the-corner time-out. Whether you're an orchestral newbie like me or a seasoned connoisseur, listening to unimposing, love-inducing classical music will be an enlightening experience.
