Sweet. Sugary. Spring. Seabury Hall's Annual Craft Fair is nestled into the coziest spot on the calendar, the time of year when teachers are assigning movies and coloring activities to 17-year-olds because the sunny days are just too enticing. One of my favorite spots at this springtime bonanza is La Patisserie, where french goodies are served to the tune of lilting classical music. The fair-style games are always good for a few laughs and lots of prizes; unlike at the County Fair, these games are actually winnable, and there's a pretty good chance you'll be headed home with a mammoth-sized teddy bear. The slip-n-slide swooping down the hill is also an enjoyable diversion. (It's admittedly not as exciting as the time(s) some bored seniors rolled down the hill in a trashcan, but it is a good bit safer.) The craft fair and art displays boast beautiful, accessible works that make for ideal Mother's Day gifts. And don't forget to stop by the flower and garden sale, as well as the massive rummage sale. Students and other performers will occupy the stage during the day, providing endless entertainment. To register a craft or food booth, visit seaburyhall.org/craftfair. This event supports a scholarship fund for deserving students who otherwise wouldn't have the chance to attend this, shall we say, not inexpensive school. 572-7235
