Benoit Jazz
Friday (June 18), 5:30-8:30pm, Cafe O'Lei at The Dunes, Maui Lani

June 16, 2010 | 04:59 PM When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's amore... And if the Benoits strike a chord with you, that's probably amore too. Love abounds in Phil and Angela Benoit's latest album, Golden Sun. Quiet jazz melodies lovingly crafted by this self-proclaimed gypsy couple will easily lift your spirits. The Benoits will host a special CD release party at Cafe O'Lei at the Dunes, featuring Marcus Johnson on acoustic bass, Pat Wellington on drums (Paul Marchetti is in Europe, in case you were wondering) and John Zangrando on horns and flute. Too, the couple's son, Max, will drop in from Oahu to join them on the last set. Complimentary light pupus will be served and a full dinner menu is available for purchase. Not enough? No worries! Starting on June 27, the Benoits will start a regular Sunday evening post at Stella Blues Cafe. Stella also welcomes back slack key cutie Makana on Friday (June 18). Tickets to this Supper Club show sold out early last time, because it's love at first sound with this eloquently de-tuned master. Cafe O'Lei: 877-0073 / Stella Blues: 874-3779
