"Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening."
- Coco Chanel

What informs fashion? What makes it such a powerful, enduring forum for self- and societal expression? The answer lies somewhere in the penumbra cast by a form-and-function makeout session--the recipe for an elixir of pop and counterculture, inspired (and subjugated) by our environment.

So we embarked on this annual peregrination into the heady dreamscape of island style with a wink at what's fantastical, a nod to the avant-garde and a twist all our own...

    Fashion--WTF?
    March 02, 2011 | 12:59 PM

I agree with most of the other comments here...Where the H_LL is the fashion?
All I saw were bikini clad girls (I could buy the SI Swimsuit edition for that), and some other girls dressed as hookers and slackers.
Fashion? Is Maui that lame when it comes to fashion/design? I don't think so.
(Editor: print this in your publication, if you have a conscience.)

    Fashion Haters...
    March 18, 2011 | 01:51 PM

I think it's funny that everyone is complaining about this Fashion Issue—I thought it was great! Something creative, different and fun for a change. And yes, there was lots of swimwear, but last time I checked aren't we in MAUI?!?!

Don't worry MauiTime—haters gonna hate! I for one loved it. :-)
