Black_Rock_Steak_Seafoo

March 02, 2011 | 02:10 PM
Location: On the Kaanapali strip, right next to Black Rock.

Decor: Beach, sunshine, ocean views, whales, chicks in bikinis, shirtless dudes, happy resort goers, shady and non-shady outdoor seating for cocktails and dining. This is the place to play tourist while you sip tropical drinks and enjoy fresh-grilled food.

Name origin: Black Rock's real name is Pu'u Keka'a (a "hill creating strength through enlightenment"). In Hawaiian tradition, it's the place where natural forces come together. As day transitions to night, the Sheraton retells the story of King Kahekili in its nightly cliff dive ceremony, a 40-year tradition that draws visitors from all over the world.

Entertainment: Live entertainment starts around sunset.

Grinds: The menu is pretty extensive, with chefs working the outdoor grill. Try any of their grilled items, from the veggies to skewers and burgers. They also have a daily special, like burger and brew Sunday and Monday ($18), wrap Wednesday ($13) and flatbread Friday ($12).

Happy Hours: 4pm-6pm.

Drink specials: $4 draft beer, $4 standard well drinks, $5 margaritas (regular), $7 tropicals, $6 wine.

Bonus: Friday's Happy Hour is 4pm-close
