The Doobie Brothers And War

March 31, 2011 | 11:45 AM There are a lot of things I don't understand. Why bad things happen to good people. Quantum mechanics. Life, The Universe and Everything (Oh, wait—that's easy: 42). Among those is why people aren't up in arms (in a good way) that The Doobie Brothers and War are coming to Maui. Guys, why aren't we dancing in the street? They're kinda living history, the forefathers of funk. In fact, before you speed off to get tickets, just go ahead and throw the funk in the back of your lowrider—they always ask you to bring it, anyway. Seriously, The Doobie Brothers have sold over 30 million albums in the U.S. alone since their '70s inception, and War is hailed as one of the most eclectic bands, ever. When else are you gonna be able to claim the Cisco Kid was a friend of yours, after a long train runnin'? Go ahead and drink some black water, but don't spill the wine. And do whatever you can to be at this epic show, though even if you don't, please, let's just be friends. 242-2469; mauiarts.org
