Trump Is The New Birther King

Donald Trump is a clown. In the pejorative sense, yes, but also literally. Think about it: his face is painted orange, his impossibly silly hair perches awkwardly on his head and he stands in front of large groups of people and sputters nonsense.

Like last week, when he told NBC News that he's dispatched a team of investigators to Hawaii to uncover the truth about Obama's birth certificate and reveal "one of the greatest cons in the history of politics and beyond."

Who better to carry the birther banner than a reality TV star/presidential candidate? But if you're dismissing the Donald as just another sideshow, consider this: at least one recent poll found that among prospective Republican candidates only Mitt Romney enjoys more support than Trump.

The schtick is getting serious—and the circus is becoming the town.

Why doesn't Obama release the birth certificate?
    April 16, 2011 | 09:24 AM

Why doesn't Obama release the birth certificate or any of his college records?

Back in the early 60's, it was common and accepted to have a certificate of live birth prepared after the birth. This was done if the baby was born at home, or in a foreign country. If both parents were US citizens, his foreign birth would still qualify him as a natural born citizen. However, if one parent was not a citizen, he is automatically not a natural born citizen if born on foreign soil. Kapiolani hospital also doesn't have any record of Obama's birth so this theory is quite probable.

Birth announcements were also routinely published in newspapers, even in towns where the birth didn't occur. My own birth was published in three papers - in three separate towns in two states. It was done to let friends/relatives all know that the family had had a baby.

Hawaii schools do not accept the certificate of live birth as proof if you try to register your child for school. We went through this a couple years ago. I initially provided the equivalent (from another state) of the short form and was told it wasn't valid. I had to produce the certified full birth certificate in order for my kids to attend school in Hawaii.
