Picks of the Week 2
22nd Annual Maui Onion Festival
|
April 27, 2011 | 02:30 PM If grinding cooked kalo (and you bettah cook 'um good, bumbye you get itchy throat) have only exacerbated your cravings for local goods grown underground, plan to check out the 22nd Annual Maui Onion Festival on Saturday, May 7 (9:45am) where you'll be overwhelmed (in a good way) with everything onion. And no excessive gum-chewing is necessary, because the fest is a celebration of the "sweetest onions in the world, grown on about 150 acres in cool, fertile Kula." (Fun fact: "Maui Kula Onion" is trademarked to safeguard authenticity). [Whalers Village Fine Shops & Restaurants, Kaanapali; whalersvillage.com/onionfestival]
