Food & DrinkDecember 04, 2013 | 07:03 PMby Jen RussoThe true beauty of the food truck is that you can get a great meal nearly anywhere. But in Maui County, some of our laws may limit this, as was the case with the Three's Bar and Grill Food Truck. They initially started their truck business with the idea of taking their signature style of food truck cuisine to the surf scene. With a lot of big surf appetites on the island, that could have been a lucrative idea, but state and county laws put the kibosh on their plan.

Food & DrinkNovember 14, 2013 | 12:09 PMby Jen RussoIn October, when my husband came home from work and announced that the medical industry had made poop pills that will increase healthy bacteria in a person's guts, I was like "no shit." Food & DrinkOctober 02, 2013 | 08:04 PMby Jen RussoIt's hard to believe that I've been eating at Maui Tacos for 20 years. The Maui-Mexican fusion cuisine a la Mark Ellman–known for grilled meats, fresh housemade salsas and great vegetarian offerings–took the island by storm in the 1990s. I love picking up their tacos and burritos, but it's hardly a place where I would expect to find high tech gadgets or big menu changes.

Food & DrinkSeptember 25, 2013 | 07:06 PMby Jen RussoI always feel a little pity for people who don't eat seafood. But then my selfish side takes over and I think, "Good–more for me." My latest passion for crab has been fueled by two spots on the Westside that are doing two completely different preparations on the crustacean. In the film, chef Jiro Ono turns a restaurant consisting of 10 seats in a Tokyo subway station into one of the most renowned sushi establishments in the world.

Food & DrinkSeptember 12, 2013 | 01:09 PMby Jen RussoSlappy Cakes is the kind of place where you come to play with food but end up enjoying a serious gastro adventure. It stems from the place mixing ready-to-order menu options with pour-your-own pancakes. Though owner/founder Adam Fuderer says it might be more than that.
