Response to Local Boy without name calling
October 02, 2009 | 11:28 PM

I get your point, just cause we love Maui doesn't mean we need to accept rude, slow and incapable people at places of business (they come in all walks of life, this is not a dig on locals). Of course most Safeway employees are hard workers, there are just a few bad apples.

Too bad the produce at Star Market is often out-of-date and the selection at Foodland/Sack n Save is minimal (especially for healthy food). When I was younger I shopped at Ooka's and liked it, mostly cause I was a kid was stoked to be getting juice and cuddle fish. Now that I'm an adult, I choose to shop where the food is fresh and healthy, selection is good and prices are low and that is found at Safeway. And you know what, there's plenty locals like me that agree. Have you seen the demographic at Costco and Walmart?

BTW I don't act like a rude asshole like you say, I just wait patiently with a friendly smile on my face and say mahalo to the employee for assisting me.
