I live in Waikiki and bought a skateboard to go the 10 or 15 blocks to work, but get sirens blasted at me while people riding bicycles on the sidewalk which is also illegal do not. It's not like I'm grinding rails or anything, just riding straight. I wish we could get this stupid law appealled, and let cops bust people when they actually do something bad. If they are causing a problem like grinding, or getting in people's way then yeah, stop them, but I just rode my skateboard 2 blocks to Subway and and got yelled at by a cop driving by, while a guy passed me on the sidewalk on a bicycle and nothing. Now Waikiki has the motorized 3 wheeled scooters on the sidewalk and it's ok. Wait! You can drive a motorized scooter on the sidewalk but I can't ride my skateboard to work? They even allow little kids to drive these scooters. I saw a 10 year old kid driving in circles around some Japanese tourists. I don't think that it's fair that skateboarding is considered criminal. I bet that the people that passed the law have never even been on a skateboard.
