Nature works with groundcover to hold soil and water. When I plant annuals, I space them about 1/2 to create a Living Mulch. I basically only have to weed once. I used to mulch with seaweed, but there's a shortage on the North Shore. The dust problem could be resolved by leaving the last crop in instead of harvesting it. Plant anything but GMOs. Latest research is that the Pest Resistance becomes immune/obsolete after a few harvests. Excellent article.
