Let us not confuse Burning Man with Source
February 20, 2010 | 05:29 PM

Im all for BM regionals, Burners without Borders and the radical self-reliance and explosions of cooperative creativity.

As enjoyable as a fun weekend in the Keanae mud is, the similarities outweigh the differences; no judgement. Burning Man is a creative explosion, a technical marvel, a logistical impossibility, and mad scientist's workshop of functional irregularity, a musical odyssey that expands what is possible, an art car/double decker bus/fire-breating dragon participatory utopian experiment in all that it means to be truly happy, free, and part of a group of like minded brilliant individuals who have been stripped bare by the desert and rebuild based upon the best parts of themselves. And to the CLICHE opinionists who blieve what CNN or Time mag might tell them about the "copious amounts of drugs" at BM, I invite them to the kids camp, gthe AA camps, the sober camps, the plethora of camps that represent the entire human diaspora.

Im all for fun in Keanae, I appreciate the art, I look for musical improvement and hope we all keep doing what we can to make all these events the best they can be.

Remember, its not about an entrance fee, the cost of ice, water, etc, etc. Its the GIVING you get to do that is going to sear those good memories, create friendships and bring out your best. Doesnt matter what it is; someone can use what you have/do or are; so be in a giving state of mind and watch what falls in your very own lap.
